Sboing4real targets the development of crowdsourcing technologies for geo-social networking and advanced satellite navigation in real-time.
Recognizing the enormous potential that crowdsourcing can offer in modern navigation systems, the Sboing4real project aims to develop innovative technologies for the geo-sensitive social networking of people who use navigation devices and for the exchange of additional real-time navigation information to improve vehicular navigation. The proposed system will operate based on SBOING's existing navigator, and complementary to the offline routing and navigation functionality that this navigator provides to date, adding new functionality and providing the following new services: Geo-sensitive social networking of users; real-time navigation information contributed by the users themselves; updating in real time the users of the navigator for the current traffic conditions in their area; and support for additional information interfaces. Datalab plays a key role in developing the back-end system to support the above functionality.
